Final Design

I have spent a lot of time trying to decide my final design and I finally found it. When I think of jazz and swing the first that comes to mind is the color blue, pianos, saxophonist, and dancing. Although I would have l enjoyed drawing all the examples we were limited to one photo. I use this one photo on the couple swinging on the back, I asked two of my friends to pose just like a swinger would. The clothing choice was difficult so I researched how swingers would dress and drew the clothes on my friends, just to warp the picture more to match Russ’s album cover styles. For the front cover I found some interesting album covers in Jazz, I took it as inspiration. I sketch out an old piano I had, made the design somewhat rough. Also using a unique color choice from Adobe Color.

Week 11: Color Contrast

Sinhee and I created the first image using the warm and cold contrast to make the colors and hues of the image pop out. During lab time I changed the hue and some of the colors in the second picture, I prefer the second design because its visually pleasing.

Week 9 & 10: Color Harmonies and Photoshop. Podcast Response

• The podcast, “Why Isn’t the Sky Blue” discusses about how color was found by Isaac Newton, differed people who wrote books based on color. The podcast continues with a deeper meaning, ‘ why do dogs only see blue, yellow, black and white..’ asking themself and the audience to imagine if you didn’t see all color.

During this assignment I was confused about how the designs should have been. I am not sure I executed the designs and color harmonies correctly.

Week 7: Gestalt Project

For the Gestalt Collage, I used similarity, repetition, and figure/ground. The inspiration for this collage was life, to me life is full of happiness and sweet memories. I use flowers to represent our life and black nerds as dark/bad memories and white nerds as pure memories

Week 6: Radiation Structures

1st: Concentric
2nd: Centrifugal
3rd: Centripetal

I feel as though I didn’t follow the three main radiation structures but combined them. For the 1st, I started with circles within circles, then layered the circles in left, right, top and bottom directions. The 2nd, I started with the line tool to make a basic shape, continued with a star tool (added more vertices) and used the pen tool using white to make the white lines in the star. For the 3rd, I used the line tool, created a design, then used the warp and twirl tools.

Week 5: Repetition Pattern

Week 3: Project 1 Critique Response

Before changing the figure/ground, I wasn’t really sure what would be the best. I also didn’t know what to do with “Play” but after seeing everyone’s work, I have some ideas in mind.
